Adelaide Airport (IATA: ADL, ICAO: YPAD) is the primary airport serving Adelaide, South Australia and the surrounding area. It is the fifth busiest airport by passenger traffic in Australia. The airport is located in the city's western suburbs, about 8 km (5 mi) from the Adelaide city centre.
Adelaide Airport is a privately owned public company with the South Australian Government owning a golden share. The airport handles domestic and international flights, as well as fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) operations for mining companies in regional South Australia and fly-in/fly-out medical services.
The airport has two parallel north–south runways and an international terminal, as well as three domestic terminals. The main runway can accommodate Boeing 747s, while the cross runway is used primarily by smaller aircraft. Adelaide Airport is currently undergoing an expansion which will see the construction of a new parallel runway and a new terminal building.
